So, since Derick Clendening has been mainstreamed into regular ed. classes, a lot of the kids in his class dont understand him and he doesnt have any real friends in his class. A boy asked him today, do you have autism?.... Derick replied yes, Aspergers... and the boy said, Well, We are all wearing blue for you then. Made Derick feel very important and that his classmates might have a better understanding of him. Derick says that Today was my lucky day... people were nicer to me! I think they should teach all students about autism, both mild and severe so that they may look at a child different instead of just thinking that kid is weird. Thats what awareness is all about.
