So, some reflections on Morocco as the holiday draws to a close. 1. Morocco is cheap in July. This is prob due to the average temp being between 50-55C (note to self, check before booking next time) and Ramadan. Although most things are shut, this is actually a positive when scouring Marrakech at 2am having drunk your own body weight in mojitos as 50C heat and hangovers dont mix. Fact. 2. Moroccan animals celebrate Ramadan. I know this because of the frog/cockerel chorus that accompanied Ramadan prayers at 3.30am last night. McCartney, I know your secret. 3. Moroccan animals are sneaky. They lurk in the shadows waiting to pounce on unsuspecting female English holidaymakers. Or is that just Adrian Crawley up to his old tricks again? 4. Moroccans love an egg. They serve eggs with everything. Actually, thats not strictly true as they havent served one with coffee..... Yet. 5. Moroccans think all non-Moroccans look the same. I mean I get how they can mistake me for German /Dutch but Spanish and Chinese? Really?! 6. Louis Suarez is a national joke. Even the Berber village in the Atlas Mountains I stumbled on has heard the reports of Louis World Cup munch. They dont, however, know what a waterfall is. I know this as they led me a right merry dance to a rock with a tiny pipe in it. #lostintranslation 7. Always check you have your passport when leaving for Morocco. Telling them its in your top drawer apparently doesnt wash.
