So, someone emailed me about difficulty creating friendships. I really felt that my answer would help those of you struggling with the same issue, so here goes: There are several relationship principles that I want to share with you that have left me with an abundance of friends and people who honor me wherever I go: Whatever you are looking for, you will find. If you look for difficulty and indifference with people you will always discover it. If you look for companionship and camaraderie, you will find them as well. Focus on what you are to GIVE to relationship, not what you are to GET from relationship. Takers are a drain on people trying to relate with them. Show up- be present and accounted for outside of church services. Like when we are doing hard work. This lets people know that you have bought into the vision and are a real part of the faith community. Dont blame the system because you cant find the door into it. Become a student of the system, and learn how to fit without forcing relationship. Add value- people who add value to everyone they encounter have tons of friends, associates, and companions. Take it easy- high strung people are a turn off. No one wants to be around them for very long. Sure hope this helps you. Wherever you go, THERE YOU ARE.
