So, thats Battle of the Five Armies done. Once again, the excess, - TopicsExpress

So, thats Battle of the Five Armies done. Once again, the excess, mindlessly overdone antics are on full display. Why was it necessary to have war beasts for the orc army (I mean, aside from giving GW some more huge models to coerce players into buying)? Why is everybody riding weird animals for no reason - if the dwarfs are going to ride mountain goats (which come out of nowhere) then why have Dain on a big pig? The conclusion to the titular battle is vastly underwhelming for all the excess of its early stages - the arrival of the Gundabad orcs doesnt even seem that big a deal since everything else is already so overwhelmed. Smaugs inclusion early on could have and should have been used for the previous movie - absolutely zero reason for it being here instead of there. But, probably the biggest crime - SPOILER - is the way the entire storyline with the Necromancer is essentially discarded, pissed away like a child tired of a toy. The inclusion of the Necromancer was going to be tricky to begin with but at every level the movies have handled it with embarrassing incompetence. But, hey, at least I got to see Christopher Lee beating down some really badly rendered ringwraiths... https://youtube/watch?v=iVAgTiBrrDA
