So the Liberal Party has discovered means testing of income - TopicsExpress

So the Liberal Party has discovered means testing of income support payments. A bit late for a Party that: opposed & campaigned against Labors 1984 assets testing of pensions; in government relaxed the income tests of Family Tax Benefit (A) and introduced Family Tax Benefit (B); introduced the non-means-tested Private Health Insurance Rebate; introduced a non-means-tested Baby Bonus; increased the generosity of superannuation tax concessions for the well off; relaxed eligibility for the Seniors Health Card; and in opposition campaigned against Labors modest income testing of the Baby Bonus; condemned Labors suspension of indexation of the upper thresholds for Family Tax Benefit; promised to reverse Labors means testing of the Private Health Insurance Rebate; likened Labors reduction in the Baby Bonus for second and subsequent children to Chinas One Child Policy; opposed Labors eventual abolition of the Baby Bonus; and advocated non-means-tested family payments and Private Health Insurance Rebate as tax justice. All for votes. Is hypocrisy too strong a word?
