So the Premier League starts this weekend. A few thoughts on my Mighty Lilywhites. . . Lloris – really pleased he’s signed a 5year deal but let’s be realistic if we don’t make top4 (likely we won’t) he’s offski and Levy has made a great commercial decision (take note Wenger and the Groaners). Vorm – could be a good replacement for Hugo and I can see him being used for Europa and League cup matches. Naughton – looked awful at left back but much better at RB – maybe a better option than the accident prone and complacent Walker. Ben Davies – We’re all hoping he is the answer to our long standing left back problem. Looks promising. Eric Dier – looks quietly comfortable. I like him. Jan Vertonghen – Like LLoris – this will be his last season if we don’t make CL. Personally I like him technically but thought his attitude late last season was poor as he had his eye on the world cup and was disrespectful to us. Kaboul – OK but far too injury prone. I also question his distribution and ability on the ball. Dawson – get rid – give him a free. Whenever he plays I can predict what the oppo will do – play the ball towars Daws because he’s a liability. Chirices – I like his no nonsense defending and his passing is better than Kaboul and Daws - I prefer him to both of them. Kyle Walker – let’s hope Naughton performs so that he has to work harder and more consistently. Rose – not good enough, especially in the big important games. Gotta go. Fryers – loan him out to a championship side – he needs some meaningful experience. Sandro or Capoue – For me it’s Sandro but he has to stay fit and work hard. Capoue for me is a good midfielder off the bench when we’re defending a lead with 15 to go. Paulinhio – Alot criticised him last season but I thought he did OK as a box to box midfielder because he always tried to go forward and move the ball quickly plus he scored a few. Dembele – Although he keeps possession well for me he slows play far too much and makes us too predictable and oppos defenders get behind the ball. Plus he scores too few for a midfielder. Sell him. Chadli – Has some great talent and a fantastic physique but just not done it at Spurs. He also has a tendency too often to go backwards and sideways and slow play which is opposite to what we want. Holtby – we love his passion and Pochy seems to like him but for me he needs to effect games more with intelligent play rather than running around like a Sunday morning pub player and he needs to score the odd goal too. Bentaleb – Still think he needs experience and I don’t understand why we don’t loan him to a top half championship side. Townsend – I think he will have a great season and keep Lennon out of the side. He can play both sides and livens up our play and scores goals. Eriksen – Our best player last season and will have an even better season this time. Mark my words. Lamela – hoping the fellow Argie Pochettino will galvanise this young fella. He has the natural talent but maybe he’s gotta forget his hype and just simply deliver good performances. Soldado – I love Bobby but even despite scoring in last weeks friendly he still managed to miss a chance that even I would have taken a few years ago and thats not good enough. I’m sorry Bobby Boy but you must go. Ade – Not often my cup of tea but you can’t argue that he scores for us and he will probably do it agaim this season. Harry Kane – We all want to see this young home grown Englishman do well and he has the chance to if he’s given the games – hopefully he will be. So we still need a consistent striker and a right back - elsewhere were Ok. Thoughts?
