So the new boundaries for the 12th high school are what the DOJ - TopicsExpress

So the new boundaries for the 12th high school are what the DOJ stated they would accept with the following changes. - Bacon Race, River Falls, Reids Prospect, Coventry Glen and all neighborhoods that were moved out of the staffs recommended plans for the 12th high school are moved back to the 12th HS. - Eleventh graders at all schools can stay where they are or move to the 12th high school is they are going to be in the 12th HS. This will mean double busing for two years (one year longer than expected). - The Trentdale neighborhood will have liberal transfers back to Hylton if they want to stay there but no busing but they can walk to a bus stop nearby to catch a ride to Hylton. - All students in specialty programs are allowed to stay in their school no matter what school or grade they are in. - Students that attend OP but are not in specialty programs that are being rezoned to the 12th can stay at OP if they want to and if there is room at OP. Dr. Walts assures all that there will be room at OP. - No new projections were generated but Dr. Walts says this new plan moves 195 students more into the 12th if all go. That also means 195 more move out of OP. - No LEP, minority numbers or economically disadvantaged numbers were generated. I would guess that the percentages decrease at the 12th and increase at OP - OP will be greatly below capacity so Dr. Walts was instructed to enhance transfer programs so it will have students again. This will increase cost. Hello DOJ are you watching? Is this what you agreed to? Thank you Lisa Bell for being the only school board representative to truly think this out. Thank you for serving all and not just the vocal and influential. You deserve better from your coworkers, we all do.
