So the once great alliance between Right-Wing Nationalist party BJP and Far-Right Wing Maharashtrian Chauvinist party Shiva Sena finally comes to an end after being together for 25 years. R.I.P Well, this was inevitable. Seems the Hindu Hriday Samraats of the Shiva Sena cant stand Modi jis campaign for Toilets over Temples (original idea of former Congress minister Jairam Ramesh) as well as Modi ji going buddy buddy with the Atheists of China and Modi ji exchanging gifts with Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharrf and also Modi jis patronizing comments on Indian Muslims :P Im sure Balasaheb Thackeray would have accepted none of it had he been alive and broken the alliance much before. Modi ji maybe an RSS guy but now that hes the PM of the worlds most diverse country, he cant be as much of a hardliner Hindu as he was during his term as Gujarat Chief Minister. This is the reason why the Republican party of America cant openly claim to have members from the KKK and the Wetsboro Baptist Church and neither can the Conservative party of Britain form a Coalition with the Far-Right BNP or UKIP. Though given BJPs embarrassing performance in the past three by-elections (Uttarakhand in July, Karnataka & Bihar in August and UP, Rajasthan & Gujarat this month), am sure BJP is not very confident about about winning on their own in Maharashtra. Thats not to say that the Congress-NCP alliance will win, but Maharashtra (like Delhi last year) is headed for a hung assembly now. This is why the BJP tried hard to salvage this alliance by sending party president & principal trouble shooter Amit Shah to meet Shiva Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray. But just like Amit Shahs Love Jihad campaign failed in Uttar Pradesh recently, his attempt at salvaging the BJP-Sena alliance also failed. Shahs failure spree continues :3 We may see a surprise if somehow NCP breaks alliance with the Congress and goes to bed with the Shiva Sena. Anyway, the BJP doesnt need Shiva Sena or any other ally for that matter. They have a full majority of their own in the parliament. Now if the BJP truly believes in Nationalism, they must also dump the Sikh/Punjabi chauvinist party Shiromani Akali Dal and Andhra chauvinist party Telugu Desam Party once and for all, both in the states of Punjab & AP respectively as well as at the Center. And if they somehow do that, then they will seriously gain few iotas of respect in the hearts of Sickulars like me because then we can believe that the BJP is relatively more Nationalist than what they claim to be.
