So the proverbial cat is out of the bag on my next journey, so I will share with you all my crazy adventure. In 1991 when I left Northern New York, as I was driving through Charlotte, NC I had this feeling that I would live there some day. Not because it is particularly gorgeous from the interstate, or that I know a soul who lives there....just a gut feeling that I would be back. Fast forward 23 years...have a great job, great kids, nice home and all is quite well. I receive a phone call from a recruiter about an opportunity, which he cannot discuss until I sign a non-disclosure agreement. Curious, and always open to opportunity I sign it. He tells me a little about the job and it is based in .....Charlotte. So the conversation starts and in a little over a month we have sorted, cleaned, packed and loaded 16310 lbs of stuff and rented out my home here. On Wednesday the boys and I are headed to Greenville, SC to a house I rented that we have yet to see in a town that I have yet to explore. I will be working with Ashley Furniture again, but this time I will be with a licensee group in North and South Carolina (based in Charlotte), and I have a regional position over the SC stores. They currently have 16 stores with plans to add several in the very near future. It is an awesome opportunity, and the boys are thrilled. Rodney has wanted to go back to the Athens, GA area where he is from for some time, and Greenville is only an hour or so away making it easy for the kids to see their Dad. There are so many of you (and you know who you are) who were right there, at the right time to help me in so many ways over the last few weeks. I am grateful for the love of family and friends. So that is the story and at least for today....I am sticking to it! Will send updates after we land in Greenville.
