So the renewed bombing of Iraq will start within hours as MPs of the estabishment parties ( Tory/Labour/Lib-Dem) voted overwhelmingly by 524 to 43 to sanction UK air strikes. The sad thing is that no-one is surprised. The parties that preach austerity for the poor can be unfailingly relied upon to enthusiastically sanction more killing as they prosecute their middle estern oil wars. And the UK media will, no doubt, play its usual role of war cheerleader and begin the process of whippng the masses up into a union flag-waving frenzy. Have we learned nothing from our recent history of destruction in Iraq? Apparently not. We feel immensely saddened by all this and wonder - will we ever learn? Who knows? We leave you with the prophetic words from 1991 of Apparently Nothin by the Young Disciples. A popularity of invasion Handed down through centuries A force of arms called gentle persuasion What have we learned from history? Apparently nothin Human worth is so inexpensive Compared to gold, the root of most wars Subtract the tears from countless offences What is left but guns and scars Apparently nothin Well, as for me, Im gonna keep lovin Cause its the only sane thing to do Cause Im not into pushing and shovin No confrontation, what have you? Apparently nothin
