So then, I wont really be posting for the next couple of days so I suppose I shall tell you all one more story to tie you all over until Monday or something. >Be reading Dads journal/book >Its a collection of his own personal stories as a Bundeswehr Soldat and later on as a Overseas Security Consultant (Thats the Politically Correct term) >Its also his opinion on how vastly things have changed >Come to section on the treatment of soldiers >Talk about how in Germany when his father was growing up everything was going to hell so he got drafted into the Wehrmacht >He was a MG-42 loader >Civilians in Germany praised him for defending them >His unit eventually surrendered to British >Came back to his hometown expecting to be spat upon >The people their were just happy that people were coming back to fill the empty towns >When my dad was growing up in West Germany peoples opinions were kinda mixed >On one hand in America people were protesting Vietnam and stuff >In West Germany at least with the people he knew people were glad to have people enlisting in case the Russian War machine came rolling across the border >When my dad enlisted at 17 people were relatively happy >He eventually became a Panzergrenadier >When he left the army (after the Cold War had ended) people were kinda Meh >He traveled for a bit >Ended up in Canada and then moved here because The people here are really happy and the scenery is beautiful >However now a days (this part was from 2012) >Teenagers enlist to fight >Come back to their home countries >Get pissed on by civilians who dont know what happened >Civilians claim everyone who fought was a child killer and killed civilians and try to make people feel bad for those poor camel people who crashed a plane just one widdle time >Ends with saying >I miss the Cold War, sure it scared the hell out of people but it drew us all close together -Oberstluetnant Fritz
