So there we were...Dorothy Edwards and myself - bowling, acting like idiots (mainly her), dancing and singing after every bowl, all was right in the world and then came the dare... which of us would actually do the FIRST somewhat nerve-racking, PROACTIVE GREEN DOT of 2015 to the fellow bowlers in the next lane. I usually can talk to a wall BUT in the moment I felt terrified to randomly talk to these people about violence prevention -- I mean, it sounds sorta lame, how the heck can you make talking about violence prevention cool? Well. You just do. Dorothy opened the door - she relentlessly cheered for them as they finished their game - and they followed her lead and cheered us right back! I briefly mentioned that we work for this org called green dot and that we love taking pictures with anything resembling green dots (hence green bowling balls below...) So we took a pic together, I told them to check out Green Dot World and mine and Ds Twitter accounts to keep up with the #greendot365 challenge. BOOM! 1st Proactive Green Dot of 2015 complete. It took teamwork, Dorothy Edwards, but we did it!!! And the best part - one of the girls asked for the picture, so I sent it to her and she immediately followed up with interest in GD...just remember, as nerve-racking and awkward as it can feel - gosh, its so worth it. We never know who we are going to affect. This proactive piece is crucial to our efforts. As Kid President says, This is your time, this is my time, this is OUR time!!!!!
