So there you have it. According to Ghanas laws, #OccupyGhana organizers dont require a police response to hold the protest. Now the ball is in your court if you decide to go or not. But quit the unhealthy speculation, wont do anyone any good: The law requires that you give notice to the police. There is no requirement to receive an authorization to exercise a constitutional right. In fact, it is illegal, and indeed the Supreme Court in the early 90s held that it was illegal to require protesters to obtain permission to protest. If the police have any objection to the protest, they are required to notify the organisers asap and propose another date and/or route, as well as specify their reasons. Since they were unable to do so on Friday, and tomorrow is Matyrs Day and for that matter, the courts will not sit. I can assure you that indeed, we will visit the incompetent president of this land.
