So this happened. Skynard.... Thunder Valley remains my one of my favorite venues in the area. They seem to get the needs of the Baby Boomer crowd, which is usually who Im with at the shows I go to. Now, there are some bands that are just chick bands and some bands that are just dude bands. For example, Steely Dan, totally a dude band. But Lynard Skynard seems to appeal equally to everyone. I was a little surprised at the show given how expensive the tickets were. They ranged from $53.00 to nearly $100.00. Yowzer! They could have spent some of that dough on art, I think. For example when they played That Smell, they just put up a picture of a big syringe. Then when they played 38 Special they just put up a picture of a gun. Really? By the time they played Freebird, I just wanted to stab myself in the heart with a knife. I didnt realize there are NO original members left. Is that true? Anyway they put up a picture of a cross and the names and pictures of all the band members who have passed. Oh, my Lord. Kind of tough. Thank goodness they pull you out of that funk with the big guitar extravaganza at the end of the song. And yeah, they close with the Confederate flag, but it says Heritage Not Hate on it. Alright. Lynard Skynard- Southern band- Check! On to some younger talent. Bring on Kings of Leon.
