So....this is what is on my mind: Many have said that the killings of our black men have been going on for decades...and that awareness has only increased because of social media. Social media wasnt what it is today back when Rodney King got the shit beat out of him. Just saying. But, okay, I hear you on that. I STILL feel that there has been an increase in the number of killings of our UNARMED BLACK YOUTH and MEN. It is out of control...and the dynamics of each situation gets worse and worse every single time....killing after killing...month after month...and in at least the last five to seven years. And here is where I am going with this: We have had our first Black President during these times, and in spite of the astronomical efforts made by politicians and law enforcement from the local government level all the way to the highest level of government, no one can take away from his successes during his presidency. And why not? Because his successes are MEASURABLE. IN MY OPINION....someone is going through a lot of trouble to destroy multiple legacies in our community...and whomever they are, they are POWERFUL. My thinking tends to go there...and I agree, I am out there with this one. I have been feeling like this for a while now. Someone is trying to make sure that not only do we credit our current President with his worldly accomplishments, but that it also be known that during his time in office there was a massive increase in the killing of our Black men and youth. The destruction of the legacy of Bill Cosby...is right in line with all of this. They are trying to hit us where it REALLY hurts by attacking the things that we value most as a people: Family Unity, Integrity, Honor, our Black Men and Boys. Please dont get me confused, Black women are powerful, beautiful and also valued and important...But when you are trying to stop the growth of a powerful and dynamic group of people, who do you hit? You hit their men. Never underestimate the power of any one human being...and when like minds come together to do damage...watch out. I am happy to hear our youth say that they are strong enough to make a stand...I am so pleased that they are up for the fight...because its going to be one hell of a fight. We all need each other, every single one of us needs every single one of us. I dont know where to begin...
