So, this morning I joined Dawson at his elementary school breakfast with dad day. When we were finished they allowed me to walk him to his class and when we got there he asked me to come in and meet the teacher, so I did. Then he asked me to stay for a little while and I told him I cant, were not allowed to. So he squeezed my hand and said, pleaaasse dad.. then I remembered that he had switched to this school earlier this week and he was still feeling nervous about it and he needed me now. So I told the teacher I realize it was against the rules but can he cut the kid a break and he said ok. About an hour of goofing off and making faces back and forth with half the kids in the class, while Dawson kept looking up and smiling at me. Now Dawson had some new friends so I told him I had to go. Of course his class was all the way in the back of the school and I was doing a great job of sneaking my way out until about 10 ft from the front door when an office lady ran out and stopped me..she asked what I was doing and I said I was at Daddy breakfast. Then she said, that was over an hour ago and you dont have a name sticker on, so where have you been. I didnt want to get the teacher in trouble so I had to think quick..I looked at her and said, well, between you and me, last night i misbehaved with some tacos and some sauces i probably shouldnt have tried, and you could say Ive been serving detention in that bathroom at the end of the hall for awhile. She looked confused, so to avoid the awkward silence I leaned over and said, and you may want to get maintenance on that pretty soon then I walked out..like a boss. Some times you gotta take one for the team to create a new memory and a little extra time with your boy, it was worth it ;-)
