So, this morning @Ruby Vos & I tried Ricks Place in Darlington (upon hearing the rumor that they served Orams French Toast! Yeah...meh. The Orams French toast was good...but thats it! The water smelled like sewage, and since they used the water to make the coffee...well, you can guess. Everything they served was generic & old, from the packets of no name jelly & old butter, to the Valu-time syrup bottle with the label peeled off. I think they even watered down the syrup. Even at room temperature (how hard is it to warm up the syrup?) it flowed just like water. We were the only people in the place and, with the exception of the French toast, all the rest of our food came out of the kitchen barely even warm. The inside of the place was as youd expect from an out of the way restaurant that had seen better days. Very dark inside with a faint smell of old. This place reminds me of one of those restaurants that started in the 70s when the mills were still here and just forgot to ever change, and then forgot to ode when the mills left. It seemed to just be begging for Robert Irvine & the Restaurant Impossible crew to come visit. Until Robert does come, I dont think I will again.
