So this song was recently introduced to me, the version I was given seems a little more upbeat than this one, but I like this one so much better. I am not sure why this song was provided to me. I perhaps to make fun of me for having the memory I do, remembering all sorts of silly stupid things that happened long ago? They were the moments of my life, of course I will remember them. Perhaps the reason is because the Margaret in the song is quite like me, remembering and taking the time to do the little things? Perhaps it merely is a song that reminds you of me because of my name sung so often? I know you will at some point be looking here to see what I thought I this song. So I will take this time to tell you ... once I found this song one youtube to find out the words { little hard to catch them all with my hearing issues}, I have so many thoughts. It reminds me of mom and dad, how much love they had and how he took care of her, no whiskey in the tea, but a dish of ice cream every night, tossing the blanket across her lap while she watched tv in the evening, him taking her for a ride to show her around the neighborhood, or even walks around the block to see the changing neighborhood. Perhaps, you are telling me you knew you could trust me with your secrets, that you knew I could have and would have taken care of you, no matter what? Perhaps you just want to know if I remember that I could kick your ass in scrabble? I know, you wonder if I still remember that you ate the center bite of my big mac, I do and you still owe me!! Or maybe it was the photo booth at Concord Mall? Christmas village houses? Or roast beef, gravy and rice? I know, the fights over the steak grease? Or fishing? Playing pool? I remember these things and so many more. You and your family have always held a special place in my heart. Perhaps you just wanted to let me know you remember also the days when you were a young man. Perhaps this is your way of saying you know that if I had been your margaret you know I would have been like this margaret, allow me to confirm that for you. Whatever your reasons, no matter why you sent this my way, I have to say, I really do love this song for many reasons, and I thank you. This version seems so much more heartfelt than the version you gave me, sung with much more feeling. It brings about a hope in me that perhaps I still have a chance to one day be someones margaret and it brings about a tear or two. I hope you have Margaret in your life.
