So this week is a special week for African Giants, two former Presidents and the Future President of South Africa will be celebrating their birthdays, these great leaders are also Robben Island Graduates in their own rights: 1. Dr Nelson Mandela (18 July 11918) spent 18 years of his 27 years at the Robben Island Maximum Security Prison he was the first democratically elected President of a free South Africa 2. Mr Kgalema Motlhanthe (19 July 1949) spent 10 years at the Robben Island Maximum Security Prison, he was appointed the President of South Africa in 2008 after Dr Thabo Mbeki was recalled as head of state and is currently the Deputy President of South Africa 3. Mr Tshepo Mabuya (19 July 1991) spent 10 days of 2009 at the Robben Island Maximum Security Prison and is the future President of the Republic of South Africa and will be the first Sotho speaking citizen from the Free State to hold the highest office in the land.
