So this weekend the girls tried out for team Canada with 5 of there team mates. They were all nervous and excited to be able to have this chance. We showed up early and the girls got warmed up. Once the tryouts started all the girls were nervous. They looked around and saw all these girls that they have seen play before but never had a chance to play. So once try outs started the first 2 hours was spent on believe it or not basic footwork and stops. These are the things that many kids do not like doing. The coaches understand that this is the key to a great derby player is knowing the basics. It was great and the girls were surprised as we work on this quite a bit. After the first two hours all the girls realized there was not really a gap between themselves and the other girls. This was obvious, of course there were a few that were looking good but all the junior girls from our club fit right in. There was not a big gap. I give credit to all there previous and current coaches for this as the girls have worked so hard on making themselves better. Once the scrimmage came the girls looked great. Mack Daddy jammed against Shelley Helley. She has always wanted to try and yes she was hit hard but she worked till she got around . Like I said Our juniors represented there club like real professionals. Did what was asked and had little trouble. Good work all the girls who were there and good luck.
