So, this year I started RTing Miyagis tweets. I try to RT them to the day or close to the day he tweeted them. His tweets are always hard for me to read/RT, even the funny ones...some are harder than others. Last Saturday’s was one of the hardest. Coincidentally, that day was Miyagis 10yr class reunion. I volunteered to help months ago & I had no idea what I would’ve been RTing that day. The tweet caught me off guard & I was fighting back tears the whole night. I wasn’t getting great phone service at the venue, so I decided not to force the RT. Fortunately, I was surrounded by such fun, loving friends that night, I got thru it. But I started debating on whether I should still RT that tweet at all. Over the next 3 days my phone could only make calls & I didn’t have my computer with me. Luckily, this gave me alotta time to think. I wasn’t sure if everyone would be OK with reading this tweet. My twitter is connected to my FB page, so my family reads everything I tweet/RT. I know how emotional I am regarding Miyagi & I am also very sensitive to my family’s feelings. However, the more I thought about it, the more I felt like I should RT it. With all the craziness in the world…personal demons, dysfunctional relationships, illness, injustice, war, etc…sometimes it seems like the world is only filled with adversity & horrible people. But then you have people like Miyagi. I could go on and on about what a good person he was, if you knew him you already know. Despite his diagnosis & everything he was going thru, he remained positive & concerned about his family, while trying to put others at ease with his humor. And that wasn’t the only adversity he had faced in his life, yet his light & energy was always so bright & contagious. We are all better for knowing him & if there were more people like him, the world would be a better place. So, even though I’m still not 100% OK with this RT, I’m going to RT it anyway. This is to honor Miyagi’s beautiful spirit & to prove there are amazing people out there who have the power to make a difference this crazy world…
