So, today 12 months ago I decided to open this page! Knowing there are a lot of amateur photographers with Facebook pages I was very wary of doing so but I had given it a lot of consideration and decided that I would like to pursue this path more and I shouldnt let others put me off, I needed to take the plunge! I I had no idea where I was going to go with it but I had not long photographed my 1st birth and I knew that was something I could do with my Doula background and I knew I loved to photograph new babies but could I take good enough photos for people to employ me? I knew I had to get better so I have involved myself quite heavily with professional photographers. I recall during a workshop with Ben Marden that he mentioning photographers should do as many workshops as they can and I decided that is what I would do. While waiting for my first workshop I passed the time with photo restoration and colourising, something that I still enjoy and do on the side for Geoff who saw potential in my work. After my first workshop with Emily Black in May I have improved considerably, since I have networked with other photographers, exchanged thoughts and ideas, asked masses of questions, enrolled in several more workshops and immersed myself in learning, I can see improvement with every shoot that I do. I have so many people around me who have helped and encouraged me so I thank them from the bottom of my heart. This career path is not a profitable one but one that I am loving more and more with each piece of knowledge that I gain and each time I press the shutter I feel more blessed :) If you get a chance this month drop into the Billabong Garden centre and have a look at the work I have been doing over the last few months.
