So today I bring you one of my favorite class of elites, the Elite - TopicsExpress

So today I bring you one of my favorite class of elites, the Elite RANGER, otherwise known as Ranger Elites. Equipped with the infinitely superior Anti Gravity Pack, a a snap harness that attaches to the vents in the back of the standard Elite armor, they can move in any direction regardless of gravity. Though slower than the Thruster Pack, the AGP allows any unit to move without pause and can even suspend them in the air indefinitely, allowing the Elite to be a floating sentry perfect for sniping, scouting difficult terrain, and package handling. While the AGP may snap to any standard armor, the armor of the Rangers is anything but: They are equipped with a padded armored undersuit thats more likely to stop penetrative fire, rather than the gel layer skin suit the other elites wear under their armor. Its cut into more organic and curvy shapes giving the Rangers an even more alien look. Over that they have the Universal combat gear, ( Halo 2 classic version )sealed in the center of the chest with a plate of armor, where it is normally exposed. Their helmet is a sealed design, sporting from the open face visor seen in Halo Reach/4 where the face can be seen, to the Halo 2/H2A combat padded versions. The second version showing less vulnerable points, using green tinted optical lenses embedded in the front-to-sides of the helmet, allowing them to see froward, around, and just slightly above them. The Reach/4 Open visor allows them to look around without turning their head, but are horribly exposed to headshots, or worse, small space debris. They range from a vivid Light blue, to White, Crome or in extremely rare cases, Gold armor. It is in my opinion as an elite enthusiast that this is less likely rank by colors, and more a description of what job they perform in the Rangers duties. UNLIKE the rest of the Covenant Elite cast military system, the rangers have their own system in the ranks. normally the Elites would have to start as a minor (blue) and go on to major (red) stealth , spec ops, zealot, (Fact: a mandatory period of honor guard service is required to pass this rank) ultra then eventually councilor BUT the Rangers get to bypass several ranks. They are a completely VOLUNTEER section of the Covenant. They immediately skip the early ranks due to the inherit danger of their jobs. Its unsure where they land exactly, somewhere around spec ops, under ultra, but above stealth. They perform the single most dangerous job in the covenant, operating in the vacuum if space. Often regarded as a one trick pony, the other ranks see the rangers as a suicide squad, due to the fact that one tiny rupture in their suits is fatal to anything that requires atmosphere to breathe ( unlike the drones who CAN breath in space ) but the higher up ranks know them to be a very precise and deadly force, cunning and brave, and most certainly deserving of the honor given to them. That are usually tasked with item retrieval, and bomb placement, but can be useful for anything else. More often than not the rangers are paired up to work with spec ops unites to minimize package travel distance and casualties on any mission involving being in space. Rangers are hardworking, fast, efficient, and beyond frightening. They live knowing their next job will likely kill them, operate missions as if it WILL kill them, and fight like its their last day alive and look forward to the next challenge to prove their might and growing reputation. They operate as a team, and their teamwork is considered to be the best in the covenant next to the Honor Guards. rarely spotted alone unless they are on an intelligence mission. Fun Fact: the H2A version is the Reach helmet, with the visor replace with the front-top half of the assault armor from Halo 3. Its also is missing the vacuum suit for the hands and neck, I guess the designers were lazy. but the really pretty Crome-white armor is cool. Another Fun Fact: I dont like it.
