So today my darling daughter worked out that for £21,000 a year she is teaching 340 pupils with attendant paperwork. She leaves the house at 7am and gets back at 6pm; she works extra days in school every half-term and every holiday. Every evening and weekend she works at home preparing lessons, doing written assessments, filling in meaningless data for a defunct Dept of Education who have lost sight of people in the pursuit of data, which does not, of course, answer back!!! I reckon she is currently being paid about £5 an hour; the stress levels are appalling and nobody ever seems to say well done! What the hell has happened to our schools and who with any sense would be a teacher? Im the one complaining here, not Ellie, because I actually fear for her health and sanity.
