So today we met with the Vanderburgh County Homeless Connect committee. We are so excited to be working with community partners like Aurora, ECLC, the Department of Metro Development and so many other agencies that focus on anti-poverty issues. We are asking for volunteers from those who like this page. If you are currently committed to helping at the event (March 18/19?), dont leave your position! We want to connect those who have NOT YET volunteered. What we need from you is the willingness and kind heart to help at this event. What is the event? It is where those who are in poverty/homeless/low income can come and all supportive services agencies come together to provide assistance in one location (The Centre). I want to get 40 volunteers. Each person will serve 2 hours blocks. They will greet and help assist those seeking services to their destinations. We will also have 2-4 spots for people who want to help with the intake procedure (so someone who is very tech savvy). Childcare will be provided at my house. So on your way, drop them off. A healthy snack (fruit, veggie, milk, etc.) will be provided. For more details, private message me. We will be ordering polos as well for the next two weeks. Polos will cost $18.00 a piece and will be embroidered with the logo. If we get enough ordered and price drops, we can lower the cost. (@Michael Knapp). This would be a great idea if you are a high school student as well seeking to fulfill your volunteer hours (IB programs, Signature School, Leadership Acad., etc.).
