So, tonight my wife was playing Dominick The Italian Christmas - TopicsExpress

So, tonight my wife was playing Dominick The Italian Christmas Donkey, and there was a refrain that refers to the Tarantella. And I began explaining that La Tarantella is the tarantula and that, coincidentally, the area of Italy my grandparents emigrated from is near Taranto. Then my sister-in-law said, Enough with the history lesson, what does it mean? What does La Tarantella mean, you want to know? Well ... when my mother was dying, almost 45 years ago now, my grandmother was helping take care of us; and she would come upstairs to put us to bed, and shed dance the Tarantella to make us laugh and to make us forget. Fast forward some 30 years, and Im at working in a flea market with my youngest brother, Michael; and, I dont know what, maybe I was having a bad day, maybe I was upset about something, maybe I was just moody -- but theres Michael, and what does he do but break into the Tarantella. And we laughed, and we laughed, and everything, all my troubles, all my worries disappeared. Thats what La Tarantella means to me. And my wife asked, as I sat reminiscing, what with my 60th birthday now on the horizon, if I was sad about getting old (because I often grow sad when I reminisce, I guess). And I said, No. Im not sad about getting old; Im sad because Im from a different time. A different culture, perhaps, though pretty much the same nation, but, mostly, from a different time. https://youtube/watch?v=trCrFGUdHNw
