So tonight we go to the auction with NO intent on buying anything, just wanted to check the conditions of the animals there for sale and I end up buying a 6 year old Flea Bitten Gray Paso Fino mare and a 7 year old red roan guerilla (spelling) Stud Donkey...both need some weight added but otherwise seem in good health...We will have shots updated and the Donkey Gelded...Both have been kept from traders, more auctions and slaughter houses meaning both are rescued and safe...We will add pictures soon...This was a difficult decision for us here at Apache Animal Rescue but it was something that needed to be done...with that being said if you would like to contribute to the rescue efforts of these 2 beautiful babies please let us know...we can always use help with feed, hay costs (at the moment we are getting a decent price on round bales $30 per bale of good quality hay, we will need 5-6 per month). We will feed Safe Choice($18.00 per bag) mixed with alfalfa pellets($15.00 per bag), beet pulp($20.00 per bag), daily vitamins($20.00 per week) and timothy hay cubes($15.00 per bag) which adds up to $88.00 per week so adding in hay we are looking at $118-$148 each week. Vetting is $250 per animal, gelding the donkey will cost $200-$300. We will need help with those costs...Please keep your eye out for updates on these 2...The donkey never had a name just a number E2RA so he has been renamed Eeyore, the lil mare was named Grey but I am not sure that fits her so in the next few days we will be searching for a name that suits her.
