So very proud of my Dad (Thom Gamblin), the 2014 employee of the year for the Rawlins Police Department. I think that it is so wonderful that the RPD sees how lucky they are to have such an amazing police officer. You go above and beyond, do your duties as an officer, and have the love and appreciation of the entire community. I have always known that police officers have a tough job, but studying law has made me realize that it is much more complicated and intricate than I had known. The award letter goes on to say, your actions saved a mans life. While following up on a case and talking to a homeowner, the homeowner collapsed in your presence. You immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and called for dispatch to page an ambulance to the scene. Because of your quick response and knowledge the citizen was in the best hands for a successful outcome. Further, because of your willingness to also teach and train other first responders the skills you have, many other lives have and will be affected because of your professionalism. A plaque is being placed at city hall to commemorate his accomplishment. I am so lucky to have superman as my Dad.
