So we are home! Back in Big Valley, Ab.( our small town without a traffic light). The girls left on Thursday; and I joined them on Friday! As we do all of this on a budget; they got to enjoy Red Deer Super 8 motel! It was clean and quiet. But in a sketchy area ( ahahaha ). I have always encouraged the girls to Chase their dreams. But this one was even big enough to scare me....Canadian Supreme! Charlene was in the Rein/Box non pro class. Because we entered late she was first draw ( 8 am) in the reining and last draw in the box work. I laughed at this because when she was little and showing she liked to be first or last....her dad asked her why?? She said Dad I like to make a good first impression or a strong last impression ( she was 9) SO at 8 am ( AGH) we were ready at the Westerner Agri center to ride the reining pattern....She placed second. (awesome) More then we imagined possible! Score 142.5.... At the tack check following the class there was some question about her chin strap( rules are very exact here) but we had measured and measured it. The tack steward took it to the judges...they ruled that it was fine!! Yippee. Score stays! Now to address the Box work class...she did a light warm up( coached) and then left her horse alone( she was ready). It was the last class before the finals..we always look forward to the finals a chance to watch our vets wife (Shawna) and Dale Clearwater....they just never disappoint! The box class was great! Very strong competitors!!!!! Charlene was last and MAGIC happened! score 146.0....She won the class! What a year! Overall score 288.5. They called her back for the buckle and champagne. While we were in the stands something great happened! Her sister( Madison Sereda) started to cry when they made the announcement. I was crying. Jayna Bangsund-Hankins was crying, Lindsey Soderberg was crying. Susan Walsh was crying. Wayne and Sheldon they were not crying( i scared them when i screamed) SO much excitement!! So much emotion! Shawna Kennedy-Jenkins and Sarah Mantie Halverson and Leta Braunwarth on the phone!! And then the call to Dad whom was working to pay the bills!!! ( good man) She rode in on that beautiful horse to collect her buckle and her cnampagne. Livvy knew she just pranced in! all in all I have never experienced anything like it in my 50 years!! I am proud of you girls! I am overwhelmed by the ride that you take me on. Thank you for letting me ride shot gun... Love Mumma
