So we finally *finally* FINALLY got a game of Naruto! In form it - TopicsExpress

So we finally *finally* FINALLY got a game of Naruto! In form it is very similar to street fighter, and it is a deckbuilder in the same vein as Dominion, Res Evil and the likes... As the anime is all about Ninjas bashing each other with all sorts of mad techniques by unlocking chakra, the game involves using techniques (energy) to buy other techniques, characters and pieces of equipment from a communal lineup to power up your character, represented by a Character Card, and increase their fighting ability. As your overall power increases, you can then strike at a pile of Arch Enemies; defeat them and you can add them to your deck and put their powers to use. The game ends when either all the Arch Enemies are defeated, or the deck for creating the lineup of techniques is depleted. Then you total up the Star Value of all the cards you have won over the course of the game, and whoever has the most wins! It is not *exactly* the same as Street Fighter, but is very similar. The Chakra element adds a new dimension; rather than spending cards from your hand to buy other cards as usual, each character card also has 4 Chakra slots where you can instal cards to unleash an ability unique to that character - could be more buying power, the ability to sort through your deck, or even attack other characters. There are also Hand Sign cards available for purchase which do not provide any fighting power but contribute more towards Chakra. Some of the Chakra abilities are very useful, but I found that some are only of any real use at certain points in the game. My character, for example, had a Chakra ability which allowed me to use a low-cost card in the lineup as if it were in my hand and return it at the end of the turn. This was more useful in the early game; later on my cards in my hand were of higher value and so it didnt seem like a good idea to spend them as Chakra to use a lesser card (Cards convert to 1 Chakra point regardless of their individual value). But, the overall range of techniques, equipment and characters available was quite varied so you can easily shift your buying emphasis and change your style of play. So yeah, just one game in and already I can see it as having great replay value, with a wide range of strategic options available. And thats despite me not really liking the anime :P
