So ...we tortured some folks...??? FOLKS??? And the CIA was caught spooking Congress? I will bet my pension that they have/had a bug in BOs office... and his golf bag. Lets look at this from another angle or two. It has been obvious to anyone with a pulse that the CIA can not do its job effectively within the confines of the Constitution and all the myriad UN protocols, especially when we are the only ones even acknowledging them much less following them. There might have been occasions on the battlefield when an enemy combatant came to be in our custody and there may have been exigent circumstances where any information said enemy combatant might share with us could materially aid our mission and even reduce the chances that we might suffer losses. Encouraging said combatant to divulge such precious information might have a certain urgency about it that might, hypothetically, cause one to consider means and methods of interrogation not sanctioned by The Book (The Geneva Convention). Lives were saved. Extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary actions. I agree that such actions should never be taken lightly but they are going to happen. It has happened in every conflict since the beginning of time. Why would the CIA spook Congress? The CIA and Congress and even POTUS, have taken an oath to protect and defend this nation from all enemies ...both foreign and domestic. Seems to me that the CIA is taking that oath seriously. The greatest threat to our Constitution and what was our way of life is the elements in government that want to strip away our Constitution and impose a Socialist/Marxist political and economic paradigm that is failing even as it is built. The architects of this radical plan are not men/women of the people but effete, snobbish elitists who have no more concern for the individual than a child has for the ants in that glass ant farm... and less respect. And they are, or have their agents, embedded in our governing bodies, Congress, SCOTUS and the office of the President of the United States. Could this domestic spying be in preparation for overt or covert action to stop what many see as a traitorous current in our own government? Was this action the result of actionable intelligence gathered elsewhere that pointed back to the highest levels of our own government? We will probably never know. This most open and honest administration in US history is neither. We are finding that more and more government agencies, from IRS to NSA to EPA have become political tools to this and past administrations. That is a greater threat to America than the CIA listening in on some Congressional staffers. I just hope we can survive the traitors in our government long enough for WE THE PEOPLE to wake up and get up on our back legs and put things right. As usual, the cost will be blood and treasure and I fear that few have the stomach to spend either for their own freedom. We will reap that which we sow. God forbid that we get what we deserve.
