So...what happens when you decide to pay John W Morton an evening - TopicsExpress

So...what happens when you decide to pay John W Morton an evening visit and forget its the Braves home opener? Some might say thats poor planning and Id have to agree, ALTHOUGH I have crawled into downtown Atlanta in much worse traffic. John looks really good! Story teller that he is, hes really trying to talk. Im getting this lip reading thing down, though -- only took me 10 minutes to figure out he wanted a blanket. He smiled, but I could read his eyes -- yeah Hon, youve really got this, dont you, not? I did take him his Tablet, so he can hopefully start communicating via writing. They did a CT scan with contrast of his lungs today to make sure there arent any blood clots wanting to start trouble-- no evidence of such! His edema has improved immensely. His legs look normal now as opposed to last week and what one of his nurses compared to the Michelin Tire Man. (I honestly dont think he ever looked quite that bad, but he was pretty puffy.) Overall, hes moving along every day. Im getting daily calls now about plans to move him to transition care before coming home, but we dont have a relocation date yet. Hes alert and oriented, but was kind of a bad boy today and pulled out his feeding tube. (Oh, he is SO back.) Really, it was no big deal and two nurses were getting ready to put it back in (bedside) as I was leaving. They gave him a little shot of Versed, so I left him happy, chill and thumbs-upping everything. :) My schedule for visiting him changes all the time, but right now Im trying to do two days on/one day off. Tomorrow is an at-home day, so Ill be around doing normal things, which Ive realized is very important to keeping yourself balanced and grounded during these long hauls. Thank you again for the prayers, concern and for sharing our joy as John continues to improve.
