So what would I do tonight? I wont go to the Beer Festival, Ill do that tomorrow. First Im going to check where I turn off my gas & water, everything else in the checkpoints I know except the below (see wall for Storm Checkpoints 1-10). Then Im going to think if theres structural damage, e.g. roof tiles blown off, power lines brought down etc I have to think about risk to personal safety from flying debris. So Ill walk the dog early, not under the trees. Ill keep the little ones inside playing during the main storm keeping an eye on the radar (Checkpoints 1 & 2) - lots of activity for everyone on Saturday if it stays good. What about potential prolonged interruptions to power? Cant cook? for me Ill make sure I have enough wood in for the wood burner to cook on the top. We all will have different ways through this - but I must get it in tonight, while I dont need to worry about flying debris. Transport disruption due to e.g. roads blocked by fallen trees? Ill take the day off Monday. Ive talked about it today. What is the point of putting ourselves at risk if its bad out there. Finally, who else do I need to think about? Promised to take an elderly friend out to dinner Sunday night, think we might have to cancel that, but make sure shes safe, got her torch not candle ready oh yes and mine too - but they will be ready when Ive completed my flood plan - despite being on a hill - my airbricks are vulnerable and the back yard fills in 7 minutes if debris blocks the drains and the rain is AMBER. Busy night. roll on midnight for a rewarding night cap. Then its off to Lostwithiel tomorrow morning to prepare the way for Climate Visions Leaf Litter Project.
