So whats ahead weatherwise for the end of the week and the weekend? Well, the upper low will finally lift out of the region Friday, but not yet today. We will see considerable cloud cover and spotty showers across the region again today as the deep upper low lingers. Temperatures will remain on the cool side today. We are already seeing showers to the south of the region early this morning...and expect this to move north into the region while others develop. For Friday...the upper low finally lifts north of the area...which will allow westerly winds aloft and at the surface to bring increased amounts of sunshine and in turn warmer temperatures. However...by Saturday...a strong upper-level disturbance will dive down from south central Canada and bring rain showers to the western areas followed by gusty winds and much cooler temperatures for Sunday. We may even see our first mountain snow showers of the young fall season Saturday night in western Greenbrier county, WV! Dont worry, milder temperatures and increased amounts of sunshine should return for Monday before the next weather system heads our way, also from the northwest. The good news is that there are no signs of any repeat of the pattern that just ended...so no more long stretches of rain and clouds over the next week or so at least. This will give everyone some chances to enjoy the beautiful fall colors now showing up across the region. Oh, and by the way, Hurricane Gonzalo will not impact the continental U.S. It appears destined for Bermuda.
