So while being proud of my rocknsteady roots, in the late 70s, to the exclusion of any tunes remotely disco (ugh), ...I in my purist singular rock n roll habitat, playing in bands covering and creating tunes fashioned from everything from southern fried , to the UKs best guitar rock, I confess (more than youll likely admit), I missed Funk. There, I said it. I mean I totally missed it. Closest I got was a retro blues explosion fueled by mockumentary blues giants like Belushi and Aykroyd. I missed a lot of funk, and the joy and influence that only the back beats of grand master flash and many others offered. As a drummer, percussionist and music lover, all I can say is; my loss. Thankfully, even today there is redemption. Mark Ronson, a UK dude much my junior, teams with Bruno Mars to offer another type of beat salvation. You think funk is easy? It takes attitude to pull it off, I promise you, you and I both, should be so cool. Love the purple jacket. Mark Ronson - Uptown Funk ft. Bruno Mars
