So while were talking about this ludicrous idea of a $15 an hour minimum wage, lets take a look at a cascade effect no one else seems to be talking about, the effect it will have on payroll costs across the board. The problem you are going to run into is the workers that are now making $15 an hour for a skilled labor job are going to look at the new minimum wage and demand higher pay. Why should I make the same money fry boy over there makes? They have a point. Anyone who makes less than the $15 an hour, whether they make $10 or $11 or $12 or whatever will also get an automatic raise and the employer an automatic increase in payroll costs. This goes way beyond the $8 an hour (NYS minimum wage) cashier. Theres a lot more involved here than meets the eye folks! Think about that...
