So why does Apple want Beats for $3.2bn? That is a extremely overpriced valuation but proves brand matters more and more. My thinking behind this is Apple is making a major play in wearable technology. Google Glass may well fail as its become uncool to wear them (Glassholes). Apple wants to own the wearables space to get complete ecosystem lockin. Beats made wearing massive headphones cool to a younger demographic, who always set the trends in technology. My hunch is they will connect the headphones to the new iWatch and in time iSight (or whatever it might be called - perhaps iVision - Apples answer to Glass). I also think this is the reason that Nike has shut down the FuelBand manufacturing team. Nike says that they can compete through software which to me says that Apples forthcoming iWatch would blow away their market. The iWatch is likely going to be a health/fitness/communication/information as well of course time device. What do you think the connection will be between Beats headphones and the Apple wearables ecosystem? Redg Snodgrass would love your view on this...
