So, yesterday I started at the African Art Museum. Today I finished that and then went to the Sackler Gallery, which houses part of the Asian Collection. It connects with the Freer Gallery, which houses most of the rest of the Asian Collection. Their fountain is not as dazzaling as the one at the African Art Museum, but it has the Xu Bing sculpture of gibbons reaching towards the reflection of the moon in the water (a common theme in Japanese and Chinese art). The monkeys are made out of words that mean monkey in different Asian scripts. As each piece hangs off the previous one (like a chain of monkeys), it makes it rather difficult to capture them.
