So yesterday Progressive Training Systems hosted the GBPF East Midlands Powerlifting Championships, the first time weve done a powerlifting competition. I was so nervous it felt like the first time Id done anything, ever. Luckily the event seemed to go brilliantly! Lots of people have thanked me and Faye Jordan and given us the credit, but in this case it was down to some rather cracking individuals. First of all the event went smooth and fast because two of the best platform people in the galaxy (perhaps the universe?), Rana Singh and Mike King were essentially have an unofficial load-off, possibly for secret unspoken bragging rights, and as a result everyone benefited! There wouldnt have been a competition without official kit which the The Farm Powerlifting & Weightlifting Club kindly let us borrow, as well as help on the desk! We had the two strongest U63kg ladies in the country Abi Graham and Nina Cambatta updating our scoreboard, they both have a strong future as weather girls! Other helpers on the platform were P-j Gentle, Kevin, Andy and possibly others Im forgetting! Also huge thanks to Charlotte Morton, Gina Braithwaite, David Braithwaite and Iain Callaghan for helping with things like setting up, running the door, all makes a huge difference! Sorry if Ive missed anyone, and yes Im aware this is a day late!
