So, yesterday was a great day. Our family is a very large thing, much larger than any mere biological family. Melissa, of course, sits at the center of that process, as she has turned many friends into family. We are thankful for that, because we have benefitted so greatly, even as has she. Steve and Abby Glass are two of those family members, friends of Melissas for many years who have become closer than family. Their beautiful children, now cousins of West, charmed me yesterday on a trip to Pier 39, where our intention was to ride the carousel. But ice cream beckoned -- yummy -- and Mrs Fields cookies screamed at us. So we gave in, and watched the sea lions on the pier, and looked at Alcatraz, and I listened to both of these wonderful children, Mateo and Treya, talk my ear off, and at the same time.
