So yesterday was thinking I would be taking advantage of 20 pounds - TopicsExpress

So yesterday was thinking I would be taking advantage of 20 pounds of on sale ground beef at Gordon Food Service today for sloppy joes at tonights Street Reach for the Homeless Dinner and Duds under the stars. Later, as I sat at my computer at the real job after hours, a message comes my way from Jennifer Shaw at First Presbyterian Church that there are tons of Jimmy John sandwiches available if I want them - left over from their Kids Against Hunger event where 130 volunteers packed 25,000 meals for children in Haiti as they still struggle from the 2010 earthquake!! 130 volunteers - 25,000 meals - 2 hours - unbelieviable!!! Color me thankful as 120 three inch sections of Jimmy John sub sandwiches (along with an entire platter of cookies) were loaded into the van. Color me panicked as I drove home thinking Good Golly Miss Molly how am I ever going to get all this in my frig and mad dialing began looking for frig space if needed as they waited for serving tonight. Now color me MacGyver as the perfectly arranged platters were merged, plastic domes discarded for aluminum foil and all neatly fit into my own frig......whew....and thank you, Jennifer!!! (ground beef will now be purchased Saturday before the sale ends and sloppy joes now move into both the first Sunday dinner with the new partnership and Monday night Dinner and Duds.) Next is a quick trip to Gordons to now pick up the needed sides to accompany the sandwiches and the menu will be set. Will purchase 100 individual bags of a variety of chips, mixed lettuce salad and potato salad for sure and then plan on one oven item as I know I will have tater tots on the other shelf in the item. Slowly coming together but it is coming together and will be ready to roll as I roll out of my drive at 8:15 (fingers crossed) tonight! God bless.
