So – my latest thoughts on ep 3 of “Heroes of CosPlay": 1. I see why Ya Ya Han was so gungho on this project – this is a major opportunity to promote and expand her “brand”. Yeah, she may be genuinely interested in encouraging craftsmanship, but it’s pretty obvious that part of her agreement to do the show was to give her “free” advertising. Meh. 2. Yet another example of showing the less attractive underbelly of competitiveness among some of these people. Monika is still young – hopefully, she will see the show, or at least look back in horror at some point later and realize what a tool she was Becky. And thanks to the Internet, she will no doubt become the most hated of the cast members. 3. I thought Jessica & Holly’s concept of the Internet Memes/Cats mashup was a cute idea, but the wrong venue. It would probably have been more successful with an "older" crowd and better staging. Of course, poor Jessica was at Death’s door. I would have thought she would have tested her wool allergy first, though. 4. It’s obviously edited for maximum drama, but this show completely leaves out the supportive elements of the Costuming community. But maybe it’s different at media cons. If so, that’s too bad. But it sorta sounds like the bad old days of the early ‘80s are being repeated. Thoughts from my veteran costuming friends?
