Soapbox time on unskilled female bartenders: Ive given up looking for female bartenders!! Going to promote a deserving bar back! Thursday we had 2 highly recommended referrals come in and FAIL the pour test and FAIL the speed test! Turns out the bartender from the competition is a thief and a pyscho and got a WHOPPING 2 out of 14 pours cause she was nervous! PUUULLLLEEASE: its cause you cant bartend! The other referral was put behind her bar cause of a no-show. Nice girl. No experience. BAR OWNERS: Y do you continue to hire bartenders w/out the proper skill/experience and INTEGRITY? Is it because you value Tits and Ass over Skill/Ethos? My staff informed me that bartender #1 gave them free drinks all night this past Sunday and not one drink was rang up! Not one. Zero tab! Bartender #2 (again, very nice girl but zero experience) thought that because she has been behind the bar for 3 months it makes her a Bartender. Thats 90+ days and she still hasnt received any training! Shameful! I dont blame coniving or inexperienced bartenders applying to work at other bars; I blame the 99% of you lazy dickbag owners/gms/bar managers for hiring inept bartenders in the 1st place. People, at least train the staff you have! SUPERSTARS! However, Todays applicants dont want to work for the job. Dont want to know how to bartend. They just want to show up and be given money! Guess what: I know of several places that will hire you but it Def wont be Kennedy, HPC, or Cheap! That is all!
