“Social Darwinism” takes the view that there is an evolution to civilization, from a primitive animism to polytheism to henotheism to monotheism; from collective sharing of necessities to barter to capitalism; from peaceful anarchy to monarchy to constitutional monarchy to representative democracy to plutocracy. What strikes me as odd is that it is always monotheistic plutocrats who espouse this theory. It becomes, therefore, a coded form of racism: it is other people, those with darker skins, who believe the power of G-d is evidenced in all things, who share with others without demanding payment, who get along with each other without police watching them constantly.
