Social consciousness is indicative of knowledge that can verify the individual’s role within the general framework of her social relations. Social consciousness is a reflection of social existence, and social existence can be the only true criterion for man to live alongside nature in harmony. Mohammed (may peace be upon him) was a great thinker. It would therefore be fitting if mankind respected his thoughts. But such respect does not mean elevating him to the position of a god or god-like character. Politics, law, behaviorism, art, science, philosophy, religion, etc., are all reflections of man’s social life. For instance, it could be claimed that whilst politics is a form of social consciousness, it is by no means a specific version of political consciousness. It can be interpreted only as a bridge between various political groups and other indigenous groups in society. Social consciousness is a general term covering a much wider framework of varieties of consciousness that are applicable in man’s daily life. With its enigmatic power, social consciousness provides mankind with a new set of tools to do away with the old system of values whilst incorporating a newly assigned mechanism suitable for future progress. To this end, a heavy price is continually being paid by mankind to pave his way through progress and advancements. We learn through our daily social practice how to abandon the old chains and take hold of continually progressive ideas. It is, however, sad that the forces of progress are being impeded in all directions by the forces of evil. The production of material wealth, the mode of its production and human relations through the process of its production form a material and economical infrastructure necessary for the establishment of a superficial social consciousness. Apparently, it is envisaged that the development of science, philosophy, art and other disciplines are not directly related to economic infrastructure, and this may in turn give the impression that a direct relation between material benefits and social consciousness does not exist. This is not an accurate state of affairs. Though it is a rather complex issue, social consciousness can be determined only while the necessary economic structure is already present.
