Social democracy -- and beyond In the history of this planet - TopicsExpress

Social democracy -- and beyond In the history of this planet there have been those who dominate while others are dominated. There has always been an elitist class while others are subjects. Money rules and power talks -- the rest of us walk. And we take it, as weve always taken it. The next president is selected long before any vote. The states are no longer united but are ideologically split. Our own president refuses to acknowledge the national anthem, and governments grab for power is unprecedented. All of this is by design. Yet the people dont care. The people wish only to be taken care of and given assurance that all is well. This is the new America -- the dawn of a new world. Please provide for me! cry the masses, as more and more of the lowly and impoverished arrive. They seek food, shelter, warmth, and a comforting arm but mostly the assurance that everything is okay. In vast throngs, they stand at attention awaiting the chosen one. They wish to hear soothing words that will quell an instinctive fear that is vainly suppressed -- the fear of a looming dark cloud forming on the horizon. And who is to nurture the multitudes? What could possibly provide for the hundreds of millions who wish only to live another day without pain? A single entity -- government -- is the only answer. This is the social democracy the liberals want to achieve. This is the progressive movement that has been centuries in the making. Of course, the elitists want no part of this new society for themselves, as they refuse to foul their hands with the unwashed. They have an ivory tower that is theirs and theirs alone. In a nutshell: The age of self-governance is over.
