Social welfare schemes reviewed at Ang ANANTNAG, AUGUST 07: The District Development Commissioner, Anantnag today stressed for early distribution of all the scholarships to the students especially to Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes category in the district. The District Development Commissioner while taking review of the different schemes and programme run through Social Welfare department also stressed for maintaining transparency at every step during the implementation of various welfare schemes. It was given out in the meeting that as many as 7938 beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Programme and an amount of Rs. 88.68 lakhs have been released in their favour while under Integrated Social Security Scheme Rs. 252.14 lakhs have been distributed among 21612 beneficiaries in the district. It was also given out that an amount of Rs. 19.77 lakhs is being distributed among 650 beneficiaries on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr under Rehabilitation of Militancy Victim Scheme. Pre-matric minority scholarship amounting to Rs. 347.58 lakhs has been distributed among 23718 students of the district covering more than 1500 educational institutions. The District Development Commissioner stressed for coverage of the more and more beneficiaries under different schemes so that the benefits of the different programmes are availed by the needy. Among others, Additional District Development Commissioner and Chief Planning Officer were present in the meeting.
