Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) will be holding the “The Lotus Sutra: A Message of Peace and Co-existence” exhibition from February 15, 2014 to May 11 of the same year. This exhibition, which will be held at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM, is to enable the Malaysian public to know more about the profound wisdom and message of the Lotus Sutra. This exhibition is the brainchild of the Institute of Oriental Philosophy which was founded by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. Till date, the exhibition has made its way to Germany, Austria, Spain, the United Kingdom, India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan and Taiwan. It has received resounding support and feedback wherever it went. In Buddhist canon, the Lotus Sutra has a venerable history, and among all Buddhist sutras, it has spread the farthest and attracted the most number of adherents. Known as “the king of sutras”, it is a treasure trove of humanistic ideals that upholds the inherent dignity of life and filled with profound philosophical insights. In our chaotic and turbulent world, the Lotus Sutra is a beacon of peace and co-existence. Its profound philosophy and essence contains not only universal values that humanity can uphold, but is also a guide for the future development of human civilisation.
