Soldiers from the UK are to participate in joint military - TopicsExpress

Soldiers from the UK are to participate in joint military exercises with the US in war-torn Ukraine within weeks it was revealed yesterday. In a move condemned by politicians and other prominent public figures, troops will take part in Natos Rapid Trident manoeuvres in July despite delicate relations with Russia and full-scale battles raging between pro-Russian separatists and the interim Kiev government. Today MPs Caroline Lucas, Jeremy Corbyn, Baroness Tonge, film director Ken Loach, author Michael Rosen and actors Mark Rylance and Miriam Margolyes were among those who signed a petition demanding the cancellation of the joint military exercises. The government only published the petition after being accused of deliberately withholding it. A spokesperson for Stop the War said: Ukraine is not a member of Nato. Its participation in military exercises by a nuclear-armed alliance with a first-strike policy can only further destabilise the country. We call on the UK government and the Welsh Assembly to make clear that Natos expansionist policies are adding to global instability. mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/plan-send-uk-troops-joint-3623807
