Solwezi Residents Wait 6 Hours for Sata’s 5-Minute Speech President Michael Sata today continued with his message of looking after children’s affairs as campaigns come to a close today in Solwezi Central Constituency. In his faded voice, President Sata only spoke for about 5 minutes urging Patriotic Front candidate Newton Malwa to prioritise the needs of the children once elected Member of Parliament. Residents of Solwezi had to wait from 9:00hrs when the head of state was being expected at the show grounds for public rally but President Sata only manage to be in solwezi around 15:00hrs. President Sata said in his usual political gimmicks called all the children to sit in front and told the PF candidate that young people are the future leaders of the nation. The head of state has since asked the PF candidate to acquaint himself with the challenges being faced by the people are report back to him. “Where are these children going to, some of them don’t go to school, some of them are being expelled, so but MP its not me to talk, ba candidate go round the province with the people and come and tell me the problems they are facing,” President Sata said. The head of state later asked that the national anthem be sung but later changed his mind and called the Secretary General of the Party Edgar Lungu to take over proceedings to announce some defectors. A former MMD National Youth Secretary led other defectors who ditched the MMD to join the ruling PF. Meanwhile, there was confusions when the security personal chased away all media houses that turned up to give coverage to the head of state. All media personnel who did not come from Lusaka in the company of the president’s entourage where sent away for reasons not explained.
